John Arthur Ingham, Sr., 86, of Mt. Hope Nazarene Retirement Community, Manheim, Pennsylvania, was enthusiastically welcomed into his eternal home in Heaven on Friday, November 17, 2017, with his wife and children by his side. John was born in Newark, New Jersey, to Arthur and Elizabeth (Smith) Ingham on June 18, 1931. He had no siblings. At six months of age, John moved to Manchester, England, via ship, until his return at the age of 11, (residing in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania), due to the events of WWII. John graduated from Dobbins High School, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and started machinist work in the manufacturing field. He married Alberta Pauline Preston on February 3, 1951. John is survived by Alberta (who is presently residing at Mt. Hope Nazarene Retirement Community) and their three children: Patricia Anne Adams of Akron, John Arthur Ingham, Jr. of Darby, married to Barbara (Bonnet) Ingham and Linda Susan Ingham of Gordonville. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. John graduated from Philadelphia School of the Bible with a Certificate in Bible education. He was a quiet, polite and faithful man, with a love for camping, fishing, gardening, fixing things, and evangelizing. He was also a passionate Bible scholar and teacher with fond memories of ministry expended at Colwyn Baptist Church, Colwyn, Pennsylvania, the Helping Hand Mission, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Chester County Prison, West Chester, Pennsylvania and the City Gate Mission of Coatesville, Pennsylvania where he and Alberta ministered from 1988 until 2012 as house parents, Bible teachers and kitchen management, before retiring. John leaves behind a legacy of loving Jesus Christ, his Savior, his family and his brother and sisters in the Lord, well. All are welcome to attend a Memorial Service on Saturday, November 25, at 11:00 a.m. at the Grace Point Church of the Nazarene, 110 Durlach Road, Ephrata, Pennsylvania, with Pastor Ken Higginbotham officiating. In lieu of flowers, John and Alberta would like financial gifts given, in John’s honor, to Life Awakening, P.O. Box 136, New Holland, PA 17557.
